Osaka, often overshadowed by its more famous neighbours, Tokyo and Kyoto, is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. This bustling metropolis in the Kansai region of Japan boasts a unique blend of rich history, mouthwatering street food, and modern attractions. This is a great place toe ven start your journey like i did when arriving in Japan. For me it was a great way to get to explore the city and then travel to Mt Koyasan. One of my favourite things to do in Osaka was visit the area of Dotonbori. When it comes to experiencing the vibrant heart of Osaka, look no further than Dotonbori. This bustling district is a sensory explosion, where ancient traditions seamlessly blend with modern energy, creating an unforgettable atmosphere that will leave you craving for more. 

As the sun sets and the city lights come to life, Dotonbori undergoes a remarkable transformation. The district’s iconic neon signs, including the famous Glico Running Man, light up the canal, casting a magical glow over the bustling streets. The energy is contagious, and you’ll quickly find yourself immersed in the excitement of this nocturnal wonderland.

Dotonbori is synonymous with mouthwatering street food. As you stroll along the canal, you’ll encounter a myriad of food stalls and vendors offering an array of delectable treats. Here are some must-try dishes:

• Takoyaki: These savory octopus balls, typically topped with takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and seaweed, are a beloved Osaka specialty. Watch as they’re expertly cooked on a hot griddle.

The delicious food you will get to try here was amazing and you will have so many options to choose from in this city.

You’ll have the best time checking out the different types on onsen’s around the city and this is for many, it is one of their favorite things to do in Osaka.

It’s one amazing, very carefully thought out aquarium- a great family day trip to this aquarium is a wonderful activity to consider. You start at the top and spiral down through the exhibits witnessing a huge variety of aquatic animals. Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, often simply referred to as Kaiyukan, is one of Japan’s most renowned and popular public aquariums. Located in the Minato ward of Osaka, it is situated near Osaka Bay and is part of the Tempozan Harbor Village complex, which also includes attractions like the Tempozan Ferris Wheel and Legoland Discovery Center Osaka.
